From Sylvia Valentine:
I’ve been a local award-winning Nature Photographer for over 15 years. My photos reflect what my heart connects with in the moment. I love capturing the Spirit of a place, experimenting with different angles and light to explore a unique perspective. I’m humbled to receive the 2023 CA Arts Council Fellowship Award, and voted Best Photographer over multiple years.

On a 2008 trip to New Zealand I got the photography bug and I’ve enjoyed sharing my photos in Open Studios, galleries and gift stores ever since. I contribute a portion of all sales to environmental non-profits. My husband Paul and I enjoy traveling and experiencing the richness of different landscapes and cultures. We’ve crossed the US many times, visiting almost every state, plus internationally to Bali, New Zealand, Thailand, Canada and Mexico. Many of my favorite photos are from our own beautiful California coast. I love the magic of creating a hidden gem in something ordinary, and capturing the beauty of a moment…from a drive around town to an international adventure.

I recently self-designed and self-published my first photography book, a long held vision! Sanctuary: A Portal to Presence combines heartfelt poems and quotes by famous authors and new voices, to match the essence in each image. I’m so proud of this creation and the praise it’s received, bringing peace and deep beauty amid the noise of the world. SylviaValentine.com/book

My other artistic passion is one-of-a-kind felt and floral art called “HeartFelt and Found”. I’ve created hundreds of floral designs made from: felt, paper and wood flowers, vintage frames, antique shoes, treasure boxes. I also use found objects in nature like moss, leaves, bark, sticks, shells, driftwood, and more! Art is everywhere. Each piece is tenderly handcrafted with love and attention and given a special custom name. They are like living art beings to me. Custom and online orders are available.

I believe art and nature are healing medicine. I hope my floral art treasures and photography connect you more deeply with yourself and others, creating a moment of silence and sanctuary.

Sylvia’s work will be in-store through the end of the year, with a selection of her greeting cards available for purchase ongoing.
